AI Rankings is a worldwide ranking system for players who beat Void Chess on vs-Computer mode. Earn 1-5 stars per level based on how few attempts you took to win. Replay levels to chase your best score.
Three numbers explain everything about how AI Rankings work.
Each AI level rewards 1 to 5 stars depending on how fast you win it.
Beat all 20 levels with 5 stars each → 100 total stars possible.
A game counts as an attempt only after 5 moves OR 30 seconds of play.
AI Rankings are completely separate from the PvP rating system. AI Rankings celebrate skill against the computer; PvP rating celebrates skill against other humans. Both can be climbed independently.
Stars per level are determined entirely by how many attempts you took to win. Win on your first try to earn the maximum 5 stars.
To prevent accidental taps from hurting your stars, a vs-Computer game only counts as an attempt if you actually engaged with it.
A vs-Computer game counts as an attempt only if you played at least 5 moves OR spent at least 30 seconds in the game.
Tapping into a level and immediately backing out does not count. Quitting after 2 moves does not count.
This protects your stars from random accidental quits while keeping the system honest about real attempts.
The AI Rankings leaderboard sorts players by three criteria, in this order:
So a player who reached Level 20 always ranks above one who only mastered Levels 1–10, even if the lower-level player has more total stars. Beating the highest level is the deepest measure of skill.
Your stars for each level reflect your best run ever — not your most recent.
Already earned ★★★ on Level 5? Replay it and win in 1 attempt → upgraded to ★★★★★.
A worse replay never lowers your stars. The system remembers your best.
This gives every level infinite replay value. Mastering all 20 levels means earning 5 stars on each — the maximum 100 stars.
Two completely separate ranking systems — you can climb both at once.
Five practical strategies for climbing the AI Rankings faster.
If you played less than 5 moves or 30 seconds, the game doesn't count as an attempt. But once it counts, finish it — losses don't hurt your stars either, only winning matters.
Levels 1–3 are designed to be beatable on the first try by a focused beginner. Going for 5 stars early builds your total fast.
The Minister is your most flexible piece. Keep it alive and heal voids near your king to keep your options open.
You only need to beat each level once to unlock the next, but replaying improves your star count. Target levels where you're at 1 or 2 stars first.
Since the leaderboard ranks by highest level first, push forward into Level 10, 15, 20 even if you have lower stars. You can come back and improve stars later.
